Privacy Policy

Safegow (“we”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what your rights are, in accordance with Cameroonian Law No. 2010/012 on cybersecurity and cybercrime.

1. Data We Collect

  • Identity data: first name, last name, phone number, email address (optional), profile photo (optional).
  • Verification data (drivers only): national ID, driving licence, vehicle registration document.
  • Location data: GPS position while using the app to display trips and match passengers with drivers.
  • Payment data: transactions made via Orange Money, MTN Money or bank card, processed by our partner Campay. Safegow does not store any bank card numbers.
  • Usage data: trip history, bookings, ratings, in-app messages.
  • Technical data: device type, operating system, login identifier, error logs.

2. Purposes of Processing

  • Create and manage your user account.
  • Connect passengers, drivers and transport agencies.
  • Process bookings and payments.
  • Verify driver identity and documents to ensure passenger safety.
  • Send you trip-related notifications (confirmations, reminders, alerts).
  • Improve our services and resolve technical issues.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

3. Data Sharing

  • Campay: mobile money payment provider for secure transaction processing.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play: app distribution.
  • Cloud hosting provider: secure data storage on servers.
  • We never sell your data to third parties for advertising purposes.
  • Data may be disclosed to competent authorities upon judicial request.

4. Data Retention

  • Account data: retained for the duration of app usage, then deleted within 2 years after account deactivation.
  • Transaction data: retained for 5 years in accordance with Cameroonian accounting and tax obligations.
  • Technical logs: retained for 1 year.

5. Security

  • Your data is stored in encrypted form. Access is restricted to Safegow team members who need it to perform their duties.
  • We use secure connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all communications between the app and our servers.

6. Your Rights

  • Under Law No. 2010/012, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
  • Right of access: obtain a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right of rectification: correct inaccurate information.
  • Right to erasure: request deletion of your account and data.
  • Right to object: object to certain types of processing.

7. Minors

  • The Safegow app is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data relating to minors.

8. Changes

  • We may update this policy at any time. In the event of a material change, you will be notified via the app. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
